look at this photograph every time i do it makes me lol. Today was one of the days when Vincent was getting his clothing washed, so he was left feeling rather vulnerable in a light blue tee and a pair of what humans called 'jeans'. He had yet to question why they called these pants a different name than other pants, but he didn't really have anyone to ask. Gran was out and about and he didn't really have anyone else to turn to, save the children he liked to entertain. Given the time of day, however, they were all in school. This left the blonde strolling casually down the boardwalk, waiting for something to do. Seaside was a great town, but it could get a little boring from time to time.
As his dark eyes scanned the area, perhaps looking for someone to greet, he was distracted by someone who had something in their hands. It was a device of some sort, though Vincent had never seen something quite like it. His curiosity quickly got the better of him, causing him to walk over to the woman with every intention of interrogating her. There was only one thing that stopped him from doing this, however: he had been told that asking question after question was extraordinarily rude.
"Hello, miss," the blonde said pleasantly, stopping a few feet away from the female. He had been trying to 'mind his manners' these past few days, all thanks to the last scolding he'd received. "What is that you have there?" The innocence that his voice contained was nothing other than genuine.

She hummed silently as her sea-colored orbs glanced about the bustling boardwalk of the coastal town. Seaside. Yes, a very fitting name indeed. Marina had imagine pleasant day such as this would be beneficial for her current job, as many people would be out and about leaving her with possible shots of how picturesque Seaside could be. Maybe the Mayor would want such shots to promote the town for whatever, maybe the college. As such, the spirit wandered slowly around the boardwalk looking for the golden shot. Humans gathered around: laughing, talking, holding hands... Eh. She had to refrain from scrunching her face in displeasure. Humans were so shameless in their displays. What about how others felt? So selfish, they always were. But that had absolutely nothing to do with her! Nope! Not at all! Her eyes spotted however once her eyes finally spotted the ferris wheel. Even after all her time here, Marina had never rode the contraption. It looked a bit... dangerous. But she was aware of its popularity with the residents; possible place she could get a picture? Maybe if she rode it at the high point to overlook everything...? The young woman was about to make her way towards the ride until a voice spoke up. "Hello miss." The aquatic spirit looked over lazily, her face still stoic, at the male who stood a few feet away from her. "What is that you have there?" The female raised a brow at his silly question, an invisible seriously? written over her face. Perhaps it was a joke. "Someone isn't with the times," she only replied flatly. Registering the question however she found him to be serious. He was serious. Wow. "It's a camera. You take pictures with it, I need it for my job. Everyone has one." Ah, now that she thought of it, maybe he was new? It was possible he was a spirit? Besides, she was here so other spirits wouldn't be impossible. "... Are you new?" If he was, this'll be a pain. look at this photograph every time i do it makes me lol. When it came to understanding facial expressions, Vincent was a novice. He didn't understand what the face the woman was making at him meant, nor was he willing to inquire. She didn't seem to be all that happy, though her supposed lack of happiness only caused Vin to crack a bright smile and twiddle his thumbs behind his back as nonchalantly as possible.
Vinny also wasn't the type to understand the way modern people talked, as he was someone who thought in only the most literal terms. He'd yet to grasp many modern sayings and concepts, though he was more than willing to learn. It was for these reason that his brow furrowed when the woman told him that everyone had one, though he was pleased to finally know where pictures that weren't drawn came from. He really needed to get with the program.
"Wait, everybody has one?" This modern way of speaking threw Vincent for a loop, which only brought about eight hundred more questons. "Do people come with them? Are cameras like faces? If cameras are like faces, why don't I have one?" It was evident in the spirit's face that his thoughts were jumping from track to track, though he was still quite curious about the subject. Sooner or later he would get the hang of this whole 'fitting in with humans' gig, but that day was still a long ways off.
"New?" Vincent thought about the question for a moment, an expression resting upon his scarred face that made it seem like his brain was about to explode. "Well I did just leave my fireplace," he mumbled, scratching his head absentmindedly. He looked back up at the blue woman and shrugged. "I don't think I'm all that new, I just don't get out much... I guess." Vincent was still quite unsure of himself and his answer, though he knew it to be true. He really didn't get out much, as he'd only left his little fire hole a few years ago. He'd been rather slow at 'getting with the times' as he was much more concerned with the children of Seaside than the adults. They loved him whereas many of the older people didn't really appreciate his ignorance of the world. These things only made him more thankful for his mentor (who clearly needed to enroll him in the local elementary school).

Ah, yes. He was definitely new, or didn't go out too much. She guessed she couldn't be too hard on him, as she could understand why he didn't go out much to the outside world. Humans weren't all too interesting and soon everything in the world changed. Was there any value to things that would change eventually anyways? Though her thoughts weren't disrupted by the blond's constant talking. He was a peppy one, wasn't he? How troublesome. "It's nothing special really. But if you're going to walk around here then blend in," she replied blandly, "But I'll be nice just this once since you're naive -- cameras aren't like faces if you mean literally. People are greedy, they want everything. That's why everyone has a camera, it may not be like mine. It can be on their phone as well. And you don't have one because you probably didn't buy one." The word "fireplace" made her ponder... so he was a fire spirit? Or something like that. Heh, no wonder. Water and fire, plus just how innocent he seemed to be -- she could already tell they'd be opposites ignoring the fact she was like him once). "Anything else you want to know?" The water spirit pressed her mouth into a thin, straight line, her impatience clear as day. Quickly, the teal-haired woman glanced at the circling attraction at the boardwalk. So the wheel was still going? Good... Though honestly Marina wasn't sure how or when that wheel operated. She didn't really care much until now. "If you do, I'd hurry. I don't have all day. Some of us have, you know, jobs to do."
Not that I expect you to know, was something the ocean spirit wanted to say next. However she bit her tongue just this once. After all, all spirits had to go through this ignorant phase. Some just later than others. It took her just these twenty or so years to conform to human standards. [ WORDS 333 | NOTES marina can be as salty as the ocean, such is a water spirit ]

look at this photograph every time i do it makes me lol. Vincent liked to think he blended in just fine with the children, though he definitely tried to get along with the adults as well. Sure, people thought he was a little strange at all times of any given day, but he really didn't mean to be that way. He was a creature who was fueled by curiosity on his quest for the answers to all the questions in the world. He had yet to realize that it was probably a bad idea to have all of his questions answered here and now, but he really did need to grasp all of the basic concepts in order to blend in.
The thought of the female being nice simply because he was naive was enough to bring a bright smile to Vin's face, a smile that proved he really didn't understand the fact that the word naive could have been an insult. Regardless, he was getting what he wanted and that was enough to be happy for.
The notion that all people were greedy caused Vincent to sit back and think about the situation. He wasn't sure how cameras caused people to be greedy, or if greedy people were what had caused cameras. That being said, he took the female's words as truth and the answer satisfied him. He had no reason to look too much into it.
All it took to get Vincent all fired up again was the woman's suggestion that he should hurry and the fact that some people had jobs to do. He was very good at listening up until this point, after which he decided that he needed to do something more. He wanted to see this little device in action (and he wasn't exactly gung-ho about trying to blend in with the other people who were out today). "You're working right now?" The spirit's voice maintained it's level of innocent enthusiasm. "Would you mind if I accompanied you? I really like to learn about the things other people do and I'd really like to get to know more about these cameras!"
It didn't occur to the male that she might not want him to follow her around like a lost puppy.

What. No, of course -- why? This guy was a real pest. Couldn't you just get the hint and leave? The woman's dark teal orbs narrowed dangerously at the blond spirit, as if she was mustering up a warning. Well she kind of was but... besides the point. She was working. Her work was a solitary one, thus nobody else was really needed. And she preferred it that way. It was less of an annoyance, less troublesome. She didn't have to play babysitter around others if she was alone. So for this man to suggest following her around irked her, despite the pure innocence behind it and the optimism he displayed. "No." The reply was firm and sharp as a blade. The spirit followed it with a pause before continuing, "I don't have time to mess around with an idiot. I work to gain money, my living. You're not going to mess that up. So go back home or wherever you live. Leave me alone." With that, she managed one last look before turning and walk in away. Quickly her orbs found the spot of her golden opportunity -- the ferris wheel. Yes, going on something as frivolous as that would be better alone. She'd have to be ripping out her hair if she was to manage a ride with that clueless man. Spirits these days! They knew nothing, no better than humans. Luckily Marina knew things. It took her a majority of her life time to bother but... it was something wasn't it? A small scowl was on her lips she she traveled through the crowds. The naive questions of the young man lingered in her thoughts, only providing to pester her more. Even though she made everything over with it still bothered her. Ah, such is being stubborn. Just like an old woman! She really just wanted to get this over with... [ WORDS 315 | NOTES poor vincent ]

look at this photograph every time i do it makes me lol. As soon as the word 'no' came from the woman, a frown formed on Vincent's pale, scarred face. Though this only affected his mouth, the more words that left the woman's mouth, the more obvious it became that the words had really struck a nerve. A deep sorrow quickly filled the man's dark eyes, leaving him standing to the side of the boardwalk twisting his shirt around his thumbs. He was busily fighting back tears as he watched the woman walk away, but he did not wish to be a further burden.
It took him a moment to remember how to walk, but as soon as he did the man turned around and began to walk away. A firm pout still remained on his face and, if there had been rocks, he would have been kicking them. Since there were no walks he simply walked with eyes cast downward onto the wooden planks below, at least until he heard the sound of footsteps running toward him. As he looked up, all he could see were two young boys; twin brothers, they were, and quite lively at that. They greeted him with firm hugs to either leg, giggling as they latched onto him.
There were cries of 'hello, Vincent!' and a variety of other childish hoops and hollers, easily causing a slight smile to creep onto the spirits face. Children had a way of soothing the heart with their innocence and ignorance to most emotion. At this point, Vin greatly appreciated that. It wasn't long before the boys were yammering on about how they were going to ride the ferris wheel, only to ask Vincent if he would like to ride with them. He wasn't about to turn down some sweet boys, so he nodded in response. He'd yet to utter another word, thinking it better to prevent his voice from betraying any stray emotions.
The boys towed the spirit to the ferris wheel, totally ignoring the crowd and brushing right past the ornery blue woman. Vincent was safely lodged between the two, towed by the one that claimed to be older and towing the one that was supposedly younger.
