here's the plot

From the start the people of Seaside were a little peculiar. They believed in all sorts of nonsense that the stereotypical settlers thought to be witchcraft. The original settlers of Seaside set out to find a place that was isolated, where they could practice their ideas in private. When they moved out west, they located a tribe of friendly people, people who weren't that much unlike themselves. These people helped the settlers get started in Seaside, though they were soon driven off by a mysterious force. Little did these people know that their location on the water caused the town to have irregular properties, attracting spirits from far and wide.

Seaside set up boundaries around itself of the magical variety, only allowing specific people to come in and to go out. It maintained a very small population of humans and allowed the spirits to come in and take over various aspects of the small town, including roles in the governor's office. As things around the town began to modernize, Seaside founded a university and began to lower the boundaries, bringing people of the modern age in.

What the people of Seaside were unaware of was that the boundaries were keeping more than just the humans away. Something looms on the horizon, something deeply rooted in the earth that is about to be unleashed. Whatever that is, these people cannot be sure. All they know is that there is change on the horizon, for better or for worse.
