the sun was blaring high up in the sky on this fateful day. it was too damn hot, and it seemed even hotter on the boardwalk. people swarmed everywhere, chatter bouncing off the buildings. it was practically deafening. to avoid to heat and get away from all the annoying groups of people, the young man bobbed and weaved into the closest building.
cold air smacked him in the face, and he welcomed it with a smile and a sigh of content. the smell of coffee hung in the air, which only made the young man even more content with his choice. short legs carried him up to the counter where he proceeded to order an ice coffee. after what seemed like an eternity he was finally blessed with an ice cold drink in his tiny hands.
in an attempt to cool off the young man wandered to the closest table with two tall stools. after the drink was set on the table the young man struggled to climb up on top of the stool. a few stifled giggles could be heard a few tables away. hazel eyes shot over to them, narrowing as he stuck out his tongue in a childish way. it wasn't his fault he was so short.
the girls had a look of shock on their face before their eyes narrowed in return, going back to gossiping or whatever it was that girls did in coffee shops. for the time being, kirby just looked out the window, sipping his ice cold coffee from a straw, watching people enjoy the company of those around them.

love, taito round two! so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night tristan had been in the coffee shop for quite a while now, and there were pages scattered around on the table in front of him. he'd taken over one of the small corner tables quite early in the day and had been ordering more than his share of coffee and tipping the baristas well so they wouldn't make a fuss about how long exactly he'd been taking up one of the most favored tables in the shoppe.
the pages were covered in a multitude of doodles and words--really, just anything that came to the crow's mind. he adjusted his sunglasses and glanced over a few of them again to refresh himself on muse. the bulk of the pages were doodles of customers and baristas like, and even a few from his memories, but those were mostly other animal spirits. he didn't pride himself on how well he drew but, rather, the fact that he was surrounded by so many humans. he could have practiced at home just as well, but he had begun feel quite lonely in the empty house and felt the need to get out on the town, so he'd taken a few supplies with him just in case.
the bell chimed, but when tristan's eyes darted up to see who was his next doodle victim, a rush of pleasure overtook him. kirby...
he licked his lips quickly, almost tasting the boy's flavor still. maybe he would be lucky enough to get another kiss or two in today if he played his cards right.
the male took his time gathering up the supplies and stacking them away neatly, then easily slung the bag back over his shoulder and picked up the nearly-full latte to join his acquaintance, taking the second stool without so much as asking.
"fancy seeing you here," he cooed softly. even though he was wearing sunglasses and a beanie, his tattoos could still thankfully give him away. ulla

a voice rang in his ears. a familiar voice at that. beneath his chest his heart started racing as he slowly turned his head to see a familiar face as well. tristan. the young man wasn't sure how to act. were they going to pretend that their lips had never touched? the memory burned in the back of his mind, playing over and over again like a broken vhs tape.
"long time no see." kirby cooed with a warm smile. hazel eyes scanned the coffee shop, hating the fact that it was so public. he wanted nothing more than to plant a quick peck on those porcelain cheeks. he had to admit to himself that he wasn't expecting to see tristan again. he was especially shocked that the tattooed man had even approached him in the first place.
so maybe everything that happened on the point wasn't just some giant tease. maybe kirby did stand a chance. the young man sucked on the straw some more, enjoying being out of the heat. "so....what are you doing here?" the young man inquired as his hazel eyes scanned over tristan and the backpack slung over his shoulder. he couldn't believe that he had walked in here and gone without noticing the black haired man. then again, he did look a little incognito.
no matter how hard he tried to keep his eyes away from that pale face, his gaze always wandered right back to him. teeth gently nibbled at his own lip, trying hard to keep himself composed.

love, taito furreals tho they cute so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night "long time, indeed," he echoed. now that the crow's eyes were covered, he could stare at the boy's body more intently and not be noticed... just one of the many reasons to wear sunglasses in public. he allowed his dark eyes to linger where ever caught his attention, free from judgement, as he sipped on his own coffee.
"i suppose i got bored again," he said, a smirk suddenly jutting his lips into a crooked grin. "maybe i should try being bored more often. it seems to summon a certain little boy, after all... and i quite enjoy your company."
when his eyes returned to kirby's face, he was surprised to lock gazes with the boy. was the human really this enamored with him after only one meeting? he had to admit that his own actions and thoughts were definitely not the purest and probably much more tainted than the boy's, but it also kept him more interested that way. the crow needed to control himself around kirby, not just continuously rush into things, and their public setting only irked him happily in that regard. it was a game, after all.
"and why are you here, little dove?" tristan asked, propping his cheek on a tattooed hand as he continued his sipping then, teasingly added, "were you searching for a certain black knight?" ulla

kirby hated that tristan was wearing sunglasses. despite giving him trouble for constantly looking at him, the brown haired man had to admit that he disliked the idea of not being able to catch him in the act. he missed the feeling of those eyes burning into his very skin.
once more the tattooed man flattered kirby. it seemed to be one of his favorite things to do, and he wasn't sure if it was just to get some sort of reaction out of the small young man. i quite enjoy your company... those words once again had him thinking about their last encounter, causing a faint blush to adorn his cheeks. "i guess i could say the same about you." he mumbled as his face formed into another one of his famous pouts.
when inquired on what he was doing here, kirby tried his hardest to think of something clever to say. of course, his mind was frazzled at the term little dove, and it only became more frazzled when tristan mentioned searching for a certain black knight. "to be honest, you're probably the farthest thing from a knight." he jested with a smirk.
another sip was taken from his ice coffee. sadness coming over him as he realized his supply was dwindling. "but if you must know, i came in here to escape the heat." the young man stated matter-of-factly. "i just so happened to stumble upon my knight in shining armor." hazels eyes locked with those hidden red ones, a certain confidence twinkling within them.

love, taito both get dresses so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night it took everything tristan had in him not to snort at the comment of not being a knight. he knew that, if anything, he was probably a shopkeeper that sold the knights their weapons... but there was no hurt in trying, right? instead, a smile lit up his face, and he shook his head gently before drinking at his coffee.
"the armor might need a bit of polishing, though... it seems to have gotten pretty rusty. nothing that a little attention won't fix, though." he tilted his glasses down and gave the other a quick wink before realizing that his company was almost out of his drink.
"what would you like to drink next?" he asked, standing from his stool before glancing around. "we can get some ice cream when you're cooled down enough, too. and don't worry; it's all on me."
the crow stepped into line again, but thankfully, the crowd was dying down enough that the wait wasn't going to be too long, and it was still within arm's reach of kirby.
really, though, he'd somehow gotten lucky the other day up on the cliff. to think that he'd made a "friend" so quickly, and here, of all places. he definitely didn't want their day to end while still in the company of others. he needed to find a way to get the boy alone so they could share in another exchange of passions, and honestly, he couldn't have cared less if it was in an alleyway. but, as he glanced past the boy and out the window, he caught sight of the ferris wheel in the background. well... there was an idea, certainly. ulla

as those sunglasses were lifted to shoot out a wink at the brown haired boy, his heart fluttered. it flustered him that he was so wrapped up in this guy. maybe it was because this was the first male he had ever been intimate with, so his heart clung to him. kirby playfully rolled his eyes and let out of scoff. "you're so forward it's ridiculous." despite the dread in his voice, a smile was bright on his lips.
there was talk about buying drinks and ice cream. kirby wanted to object, but before he could utter a single word his friend had already left the table to get in line. the young man wanted to refuse, but didn't want to cause a scene. "you don't have to get me anything. stop it." the young man grumbled as he reached out, barely being able to grab tristan by the arm, trying to tug him back over to the table.
he noticed that what little eyes were in the room were now on him. the young man instantly let go of tristan's arm, afraid of what people would think. kirby got comfortable in his seat once more, his gaze averted back to the window. the young man was more than flustered now, wanting nothing more than to leave the coffee shop and hide in the giant group of people.
although, that ferris wheel would also make a good hiding spot as well.

love, taito the most gorgeous so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night it wasn't very often that tristan was denied, but it wasn't an unwelcome thing. at the objection and the sudden attention, he felt his heart flutter. he had always enjoyed standing out in the crowd, as obvious by his appearance. and now this... kirby most likely didn't know it, but it was somehow flattering to the spirit.
"you're adorable," he muttered, leaning in to take the boy's hand and urge him out of his seat. "now come on. if i'm not buying you anything, then at the very least, you can keep me company."
he allowed the boy's hand to drop from his own before turning and walking out the door and, sadly, into the heat that had somehow developed throughout the day while he was inside. his gentle skin and dark clothing were easily soaking up the rays, but it wasn't like he couldn't get rid of a tan if one did develop. all he had to do was seclude himself with a heap of books for a few days and, voila, it would be gone. he rather liked his pasty self, after all, and his viewers would be confused if that changed overnight without some explanation.
eyes locked on the ferris wheel again. it was closer than his house, and he hadn't been in one that was built in recent years. he just had to bank on kirby not being afraid of heights, and if the boy was... well, there would definitely be an open lap for him to sit on. ulla

complimenting words were muttered at him, as a hand slipped into his, obviously trying to get him on his feet. the young man willingly slipped down off the stool, feeling a twinge of sadness when tristan's hand left his. those little legs of his were quick to chase after the lithe, dark-haired man. he had to admit to himself that there was no one else he would rather accompany today.
almost instantly kirby regretted stepping foot outside the coffee shop. the heat was ridiculous along with the humidity that was thick in the air. people were still buzzing around the boardwalk, making it almost impossible to get anywhere. for safety measures, a small hand latched onto tristan's shirt as to not get lost in the sea of people. lord only knows how hard it would be to find each other at that point.
hazel eyes locked on the taller figure beside him, wondering what he had in store for the two of them. "where are we going?" kirby inquired. the young man noticed that tristan's eyes were fixed on something in the distance. when he tried to figure out what it could be, the only thing that came to mind was the towering metal frame of the ferris wheel.
is that what the tattooed spirit had in mind for the two of them? his heart began to race inside of his chest. that would mean the two of them would be alone. was that what the dark-haired man wanted? kirby looked back at tristan, hazel eyes wide with confusion. his free hand pointed at the ferris wheel off in the distance. "please tell me you're not looking at that."
kirby wasn't afraid of heights. no, not at all. that wasn't the problem. the problem was being alone with tristan, knowing that eventually their lips would most likely be locked together once again. knowing that he would inevitably be wrapped around tristan's finger even more than he was at this very moment.
and that terrified him.

love, taito but even! even! so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night the crow was happy when he felt the hand on his shirt, but for him, it was hardly enough. he wanted skin-to-skin contact, not simply touching each other's frumpy clothing. so, in a fairly swift move, he instead took hold of the boy's hand again, gently weaving his fingers between the other's.
"and what if it is, little dove? afraid to spread your wings and fly?" he chuckled gently. if he really was afraid of heights, just imagine what kirby would think if he found out what tristan really was. speaking of which, he wondered if he should even tell the poor thing what he was getting himself in to.
a quick glance at the short boy and his frozen face told him all that he needed to know, though: it would be so much more fun if he turned it into a game.
he loved kirby's expressions and how honest he was about his feelings. it was almost like reading a book where all of the difficult words had an asterisk mark that gave the definition in the footnotes at the bottom of each page. a twisted smile curled his lips again, and his shaved eyebrows raised in amusement. even if he wasn't afraid of heights, he was definitely scared of something. it was always amusing to see how easily a human's heart could be twisted and manipulated, and that was exactly what the crow intended on doing to the poor boy... but he wasn't certain of the endgame quite yet. he'd just have to enjoy the ride. ulla

a tidal wave of ease washed over him as he felt tristan's hand slip into his once again. fingers soon weaved together like a wicker basket. that warmth surged from his hand all the way to his heart. kirby couldn't help but give the hand a welcoming squeeze. it felt good; it felt safe.
there he went once again with that little dove nonsense. kirby was almost offended that his companion would even think that he was afraid of heights. his lips once again pursed into a pout. "i'm not afraid of heights, you jerk." he grumbled. there was no way he was even going to answer the first question, as to why he seemed so against going up there in the first place. there were just some things that were better left unsaid.
there was something definitely bothering him about tristan. despite how badly he was tangled up in the web that had been weaved, there was this nagging feeling telling him that he was not to be trusted. kirby could only keep telling himself not to let himself get overwhelmed by his feelings. he didn't want to drown while tristan simply swam.
"let's hurry up and get this over with." he groaned playfully. his little hand tugging at tristan's larger one. kirby just hoped it wasn't too obvious, and also hoped that no one he knew saw them together. it would totally kill his reputation.

love, taito he wants smooches so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night tristan merely rolled his eyes at the comment of not being afraid of heights. then what was there to fear? the crow himself wasn't all that scary, despite what some peoples' first impressions of him may be. kirby had seen that at the cliff, right? then again, they hardly knew each other at all. he only knew that kirby liked to draw, and kirby knew... well. wasn't that a pity? kirby really didn't know anything about him other than that he was a good kisser, and that was hardly enough. he wondered how long it would be before kirby wanted to know more about him... and how much he could learn about the other before then.
what other games could they play? they were already holding hands in public, and judging from the stares earlier, it was obvious that the boy didn't like some sort of attention that was given. perhaps he didn't like crowds, judging from his awkwardness. he'd have to spy on the boy in his natural form in order to gain more--
ooooh. that wasn't a bad idea. maybe he could watch his nightly routine at some point if the boy's curtains were open. but first, he would have to learn where kirby lived. a smile grew on his face again as he thought of all of these things. he could have so much fun learning everything about the boy before kirby got to know him any better, and maybe he could startle him with the information. or perhaps it would be better to keep that to himself; he didn't want the cute little thing running away from him quite yet. he still had so much more of that tiny body left to explore before he was done with him.
just as the pair reached the line for the ferris wheel, the crow brought the boy's smaller hand to his own lips and kissed it gently. "looks like we're just in time to beat the rush," he said, lips ghosting over the tanned flesh as he watched the young boy behind the veil of his glasses. ulla

the silence between the two of them was slightly unsettling. the young man would sneak a glance at his companion every now and then to try to read his face. he wondered what on earth could be going through that mind of his. it made his stomach do flips - and not in a good way. it was unlike tristan to be so quiet.
or was that just what it seemed like? he didn't exactly know tristan. he didn't even know if that was his real name. all he knew was that he liked the way his hand fit with his own and the way their lips danced together so gracefully. but he wanted to know more. kirby wanted to know the ins and outs of this intriguing young man. he wanted to know what kind of music he liked, what his passions were, and what pissed him off to know end.
once the two unlikely couple reached the ferris wheel, tristan pressed his lips to kirby's small hand. hot breath flowing over his skin, giving him goosebumps all up and down his arms. the young man turned his head and looked behind him. surprisingly not too many people were forming a line behind them. that only meant less people to see witness anything intimate that happened between the two of them.
after everyone had gotten off the ferris wheel, a young man - who looked insanely miserable - was beginning to usher people back on. kirby realized that this guy was going to see the two of them holding hands. what does it matter? he's a complete stranger. he isn't going to care. his mind tried to make him feel somewhat better. with a sigh the young man gathered up his courage, dragging tristan along behind him, trying to get onto the ferris wheel as soon as possible.
there were two benches. kirby knew that wherever he sat, tristan was sure to take up the spot right next to him, so he plopped down without much of a care. the anticipation of what was yet to come bubbled deep inside his gut.

love, taito trissy <3s bee so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night kirby looked frustrated or flustered or something of that nature... especially when tristan kissed his hand. was there really anything wrong with showing a little affection in public? he wondered if that was the problem. it hadn't occurred to the crow until now, though, that perhaps the boy wasn't openly affectionate towards men. whelp, if that was the case, then they were well past that point. tristan felt as if he could lick the boy's lips in front of a crowd of people and somehow convince the other to get over it later.
when kirby flopped into his space, tristan had to make a quick decision: to sit next to him or not? if he got next to him, then it would be obvious that they were very much interested in one another. but, if he sat across...
tristan sat himself comfortably in front of kirby, leaning forward so that they was just a few inches of space between them, and slid his glasses to rest on his head. he risked a glance over to the lazy operator, and when they made eye contact, something seemed to shock the poor kid awake, and he quickly closed the door and readied the next carriage.
a smirk slipped over the crow's lips. "looks like some people can't handle my eyes..." his gaze trailed back to the boy in front of him. "but i'm happy that you can, little dove."
he wrapped an arm around kirby's waist, pulling him to the edge of the bench, and slid his tongue over the boy's lips, feeling the piercing catch between them for a moment as it dragged, before planting a gentle kiss on the moistened skin. ulla

his companion sat across from him, which allowed kirby to have some peace of mind. although, no matter how he looked at it, it was obvious something was going on between these two. how often did two men just so happen to ride in the same carriage on a ferris wheel together? kirby didn't exactly think that through.
although, the ferris wheel operator probably didn't have much time to put two and two together, for tristan scared him off with a simple gaze. kirby couldn't help but chuckle as their carriage slowly lifted up. his hazel eyes met those red ones, taking them in once again after the black haired man's choice of words. he was such a smooth talker it wasn't even funny. "you and your sweet talk." kirby grumbled.
moments later an arm slithered around his waist, pulling him to the edge of the bench. it didn't take long for the predator to pounce on his prey. a warm tongue brushed his lips, causing his cheeks to burn with red. kirby wanted to object, but as always, tristan was quick, locking their lips together before the young man could even suck in a breath. why would he want to object? this was what he had been waiting for, wasn't it?
ever since tristan had blessed him with his presence, all he wanted to do was kiss him. thankfully for him, the forward young man hadn't gone through with it at the coffee shop. kirby found himself leaning into the kiss, his hand - without even thinking about it - went directly to those pasty cheeks. his skin was so soft and perfect, minus the little bumps here and there from the piercings.
once again he found his teeth nibbling at his companion's lip, completely engulfed in the moment. his mouth tasted of coffee, and kirby was drowning in it.
