love, taito get this party going so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night so far, tristan had been simply exploring the small town in his natural form, but that didn't help satiate his curiosity and overall need to get to know the people of this town better.
four days. four days picking through the trash in this town and figuring out the lifestyles of the residents while getting a quick meal on the side. he was simply itching to return to his human-ish form and chatter away with someone because, as he seemed to forget quite often, humans don't understand crow calls no matter how much he cawed at them. all he wanted was to talk, but he often was shooed away or ignored completely.
the bird returned to the outskirts of the town and to a small hiding space where he had been keeping his clothes. he shifted once he was certain no one was around before redressing himself and making his way back to the town. ah, how wonderful it was to walk on human legs again and see things from a higher perspective! he enjoyed this human form not only for the socialization that came along with it, but he also liked not having to hop around and peck at things to seem normal. or, well. as normal as he could get.
this was the first time he had entered the city not as a bird, so he wasn't surprised when people started their normal gawking. he'd realized that in the northern parts of the united states, it wasn't nearly as bad as in the south, but the humans still stared nonetheless. he puffed out his chest almost proudly, glad for the attention, but not yet interested enough in a particular person to speak with them yet. he already knew a good deal about certain people he saw on the streets, and most of it was quite bland.
as he made his way down the street, he turned to look at the inn. black and red eyes scanned over it, taking in a few details that he had missed in his true form. maybe for now, he could rent out a room until he'd gotten settled in the city.
"morniiiing," he called as he entered, glancing around until he saw someone. ulla

Business at the inn had really picked up over the course of the summer, so much so that Charles had finally managed to gather enough coin to put in a more efficient system for logging consumers. That being said, he was a cheap man who wanted to paint and do other things first and foremost, so today he was hovering over the giant logbook that was extremely outdated and trying to find those who were set to check out today. It wasn't necessarily a hard task, he just wished he had a way to click something once and have the computer do the rest of the work.Perhaps he was only preserving the authenticity of the small business, as it was meant to be a place that was filled with history, but those who asked were simply given one of the most dreadful answers imaginable: with time. All things happened with time and Charlie had always been keen on taking his, seeing no point in rushing things when he was getting a lot more accomplished without rushing around like a fool. There was probably more to this as well, like when he did rush he was 99% more likely to start having a meltdown because he was unsure of things, but he wanted to keep it all simple. For a while Charles was the only one in the lobby, at least until the man walked in. He was immediately self-conscious, as his black hair was massively messed and wasn't being at all cooperative, but he pushed all the thoughts aside and tried to focus on his attire. What man didn't look classy when he was wearing a button up with a sweater vest? Charles had even managed to tie his own tie this morning as well, which was much of an accomplishment. "Good morning," Charlie responded pleasantly, though his sleep deprivation was able to seep through in his smooth voice. "Welcome to the Seaside Inn!" The man offered a somewhat sleepy smile as his emerald eyes looked the fellow over, making note of his strange appearance. Charles wasn't one to judge, but he was very intrigued by this particular fellow's strangeness. It took him .5 seconds to assume that he was a spirit of some sort, which meant that the lad might be in for an interesting day."Can I help you, sir?"

love, taito charles is so cute so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night when black and red eyes laid on the poor man behind the counter, tristan felt a twinge of guilt. he looked so tired... had he stayed up the entire night?
listening to the sounds within the inn and feeling for other spirits came to the crow within a few seconds. yes, there were definitely traces of spirits that had passed through recently, but this entire town had somehow been infested with his kind. a pity, really. this would be a perfect, sleepy little town for humans to mill about in at the ends of their lives. and this worker here looked like he was about to be at his with that sleep deprivation. but even still, tristan couldn't help but notice how adorable his large eyes and soft complexion were, and he was certain that his wavy hair would feel lovely between his own tattooed fingers.
at the question, tristan sauntered over towards the counter and scanned over the young man's delicate body. "i just made my way here after passing through a few towns and needed a place to stay until i get my own house in the town. would you happen to have any openings, mister innkeeper?"
there were many scents scattered in this large place, but out of all of them, this boy's slightly musty aroma covered the place along with another quite similar... a family member, perhaps? places like this did tend to be family establishments, so it made sense. "also, you seem rather tired. isn't there anyone around to lend a hand so you can at least nap?" ulla

This wouldn't have been the first time that Charles had been aware of someone eyeing him. The people that usually did it weren't from around here, as many of the locals had some kind of prejudice against 'Charlie the Cheating Sin-clair', so the man was left to assume that this tattooed male wasn't from the area. Just as he was drawing such conclusions, the man told him that he wasn't. This caused the smile on Charlie's face to brighten, if it only ended up adding to his ego.
"I'm sure we have something," Charles stated, attention returning to the aged pages between his fingers. He was absolutely certain there was a room available, though his mind was clouded by a lingering fogginess that would only be lifted by some of the magical coffee beans that he had received from his father. Regardless of his own condition, the man ran his finger down the page, mentally checking off rooms that were taken.
Charles probably would have kept going, but the man's voice caused him to look up from his work. He took up a look that resembled a doe-eyed Bambi, cheeks turning the faintest shade of pink thanks to the man's concern. The smile was immediately back in its place, sweet as could be. With the smile came the accompaniment track, a gently rolling chuckle that was almost unearthly. People of the town liked to say that was how the Charles Sinclair demon ensnared his young prey, including his current girlfriend.
"I haven't really been able to find any good help lately. One of my best helpers is actually out for the week, so I've been set here to do it all my own." The man went back to looking at the book, "I've always had a hard time taking naps since I was a child, so all I really need right now is some coffee." Charles was a pro at brushing off the concerns of others, though that didn't change the fact that he was tired and wholly flattered by the other's concern for his sleeplessness.

love, taito UGH <3 so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night if the crow's heart was an actual organ that pumped blood through his veins rather than just some facade for a human figure, tristan was certain that it could have exploded from that little scene. how in the hell was this human so cute! the last time he'd gotten such a shock was from his former lover some hundred or so years ago, but instead of falling in love with her like he had done all that time ago, tristan simply wanted to squeeze the other close to him and love at his warm skin until he had that expression permanently plastered on his face.
ugh. just, ugh.
he was sure that he looked like a fool standing in place, eyes wide with adoration for this human. many times, he simply wanted to learn from this race or toy with their hearts until they cracked. now, though, it was a genuine feeling. he wanted to be around this man, even if it was friendship. after all, it was never bad to have some eye candy around, right? of course not. after all, human beauty was so fleeting that it would be a sin to let this opportunity dry up and wither away.
tristan leaned against the counter, elbows propping on the surface and holding his chin in place as he watched the other work. "well, besides my entertaining, i have no obligations anywhere, and since this is my first time in town... i suppose i'd be free to help if you'd wish it." his dark eyes hungrily took in that cute face again, like a lion stalking a gazelle. "at the very least, it'd let you sleep more often and take coffee breaks. i'd hate to see those bags under your eyes become a permanent feature." ulla

All of the staring might have put your average human on edge - it would have made Charles uncomfortable had he been in the same state of mind as he was three years ago - but the man managed to take it all in stride. He was becoming increasingly certain that the tattooed figure was hardly human, which only made everything slightly less creepy. Spirits were far more dangerous than many humans could ever dream of being, but this one seemed to be free of ill intent. Charles could only go with his gut and continue making assumptions until he was able to learn the truth, which would be done without questions.
A second chuckle escaped Charlie as he again looked up from the book, smile taking up an air of playfulness that was somewhat abnormal this early in the morning. "I'm not sure if you've come here looking for a place to stay or a job," the man's tone was light, cheerful; it did well at hiding just how sleepy he was. "I've managed to locate a room for you despite all of the distractions you've been offering me, though if you are serious about helping out I'd be more than willing to let you stay here free of charge." Truth be told, Charles let the majority of spirits stay there without actually having money. He was in the process of paying off his family debts and most of the spirits didn't possess human currency. Charles liked to recruit them into helping him in various other ways, but they had to let him know of their true being first.
"They do make things that can help with those pesky bags under the eyes, though I prefer not to dabble in the dark arts that are cosmetics. If it will put your mind at ease I'll try to get some sleep in at some point today." There was a hint of sass that escaped Charles, though it was of the playful variety. This was made evident not only by the tone of the man's voice, but also by the posture he had adopted. He stood there, hands on his hips, leaning forward ever so slightly while he spoke. It was a natural counterpart of the position that the presumed spirit had taken up, so the way Charles had transitioned was virtually flawless. Despite being a little low on the sleep levels, he was still functioning normally. That was a good sign.

love, taito best boss ever so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night tristan let a small hum of amusement escape his throat. was this man flirting right back with him, even though they were speaking of the crow taking up a job here? it wasn't like he hadn't had flings with his employers before, but this one was much younger than many that had sought his help. and a free place to stay? this man was simply asking for a companion tonight, and the crow would be more than happy to oblige if given the chance. although he also really wanted the other to rest... so he'd just have to make certain that the human was thoroughly loved and worked to be sure that his sleep was positively splendid. but the poor thing would probably be in quite a bit of pain the next morning, so tristan would probably have to spend that time at the desk while his new boss staved off the discomfort.
not that he minded at all. free beds and free love were two of the things that tristan enjoyed most.
through all of these thoughts, a playful smirk had curled its way onto the crow's mouth, and his eyebrow had piqued in absolute curiosity about this man. and that stance was simply to die for as well... and offered the crow a nice little opening to attack.
without much more thought, tristan leaned forward and pecked the innkeeper's lips softly. whether or not he enjoyed the company of men wasn't in the slightest concern to the crow at the moment, because even if he was opposed to the idea, there was going to be a game of "how fast can i bed this one?" playing in tristan's mind. "thanks muchly, boss. i'll be certain to let you have plenty of rest as long as i'm here." he offered a perky wink, playfulness painting his expression in the process. ulla

Though Charles found it easy to flirt, the man was one who thoroughly enjoyed playing hard to get. In reality this may have been because he had deep rooted problems with being vulnerable, but he simply liked to tease. If he was able to dangle himself before someone in order to get something out of them, he would do it. He was sleazy like that. In this situation, he wasn't sure what he wanted to get from the being who stood before him, but he was fairly certain that he was just allowing himself to be dictated by his desire to be wanted and his true loneliness that he pushed through on a daily basis.
If he could get his ducks in a row, his life would be infinitely easier.
Though Charles thought the kiss was a little unwarranted, he wasn't about to complain. If it started eating at him he would brush it off as a gesture of gratitude and leave it at that. For all he knew, it really was just a cultural thing. A soft smile graced his features as the man reached for the keys at his waist, turning and walking toward a closed door without a word. It took him a moment to locate the proper key on his ring, only to unlock the door and flip on a light. From his position, it was clear that his large, expressionate eyes were searching for something, that something being a key to the room that he was going to lend to this new 'employee' of his. Everything was in slight disarray, but he located the key and walked back out to the desk without closing the door or hitting the lights.
A pale hand extended, the room key in the man's palm. "Here's your room key. The sooner you get yourself settled, the sooner I can take a nap." At this point, Charlie figured he wasn't going to have the heart to actually nap. The inn was his child and he had, after all, just met this person. He didn't know how trustworthy they were, but a spare hand would certainly help him to at least tidy up the back room. "If you'd like, I could probably escort you." There was that playfulness again, Charles' words leaving his mouth in the most sultry of ways. He had no intentions of pushing any physical boundaries - that really wasn't his thing - but he really wanted the opportunity to figure out who this guy was.

love, taito huehue so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night when tristan saw the gentle smile grace that man's lips, the crow couldn't help but mirror it, black eyes shining with a giddiness.
he hadn't been denied.
the kiss was an unintentional test for the crow. he was hardly certain when a moment to do so presented itself, but if he took it and the receiving party shunned or scolded him was malice, his emotions were easily dropped on the spot. but here, this man showed a classic example of what he enjoyed seeing after such an encounter. his gorgeously green eyes held a mischievousness behind them, yet he acted as if the kiss had never happened.
it made him shudder internally from excitement. here was the chase he adored so much, and it just seemed that he had walked into the hunting grounds at the perfect time. his eyes were locked on the man's form as he walked, a slight confidence in his bounced hidden behind a modest air. the elegant clash seemed to suit him quite well.
tristan plucked the key easily from the man's hand and glanced up at his soft face with a smile. all of his belongings were what he currently had on his being. the remainder of his things--recording equipment, et cetera--were with a trusted friend from where he had settled before. once he was in his new house, he'd simply have them shipped over so he could set up a recording studio.
"i'd appreciate that," he said with an eyebrow raised as he stood, hands sliding into the pockets on his jacket. he dropped the key in there for now in case an opportunity to take the man presented itself which, judging by his air, wasn't going to happen. but one always needed to be prepared. ulla

It was not like Charles was unaware of the way the other being was acting, but he was not the type to speak up about such things. If there was ever anyone who enjoyed going with the flow, it was Charles. He would put his mind to resolving whatever came his way in the easiest and most straightforward way possible. He was more the reactive sort than the proactive sort, but that had yet to become that much of a problem. All in all, he was a timely fellow who got a lot done, skimping on the time he had alone to himself and the time he allowed himself to spend with others who could be considered 'friends'. He hadn't really had a friend since high school.
The same smile that had graced Charlie's features remained as the creature expressed what seemed to be gratitude. It didn't take much to slink around the counter and emerge on the other side, though Charles did feel slightly more vulnerable now. He hardly thought that this tattooed stranger had any ill intentions, but he found himself reassuring himself of the fact multiple times. He couldn't help but to be a little skittish around devilishly handsome and exotic men, especially those who had the nerve to kiss him so outright.
"If you'll follow me this way," Charles began, gesturing to a hallway to the left as he willed his feet to move forward. He took a few well-placed steps before he began to feel the need to strike up some casual chatter, if only to put himself at ease and get the answers he desired.
"What brings you to Seaside, if you don't mind my asking?" A variety of happenings brought many things to Seaside, few being human. That just made it all the more interesting.

love, taito hmmhmm~ so lie to me and tell me we'll make it through the night the crow trailed his new employer obediently, matching the other's stride quite easily. he busied himself with glancing over the other's figure a few times, taking in every gentle curve that showed itself as the human led him down the hall. he supposed that he had been either caught or the man grew anxious, though, when a question was directed at him.
"i'm just a wanderer," he breathed, raising a hand from its pocket to rub at the shaved back of his head. i go where ever interesting things happen, and i wasn't certain if i would stay in this town long, but i also can't turn down an attractive man in need if i can help it." he meant this in multiple ways, of course, but decided not to push his luck. so far, the other seemed to be alright with his behavior, but he also wanted to see if he could find out how the rest of those curves sat on his figure.
"you seem quite young to be running a business by yourself, though. may i ask how you came into it?"
as the pair strode down the path, he couldn't help but notice remnant energies of beings that stayed in the past. he could easily clean those as well and hopefully bring more happiness to this place, although it would exhaust him. he could string the process along for a few days, and although the energies may not be completely eradicated all at once, they could at least begin to dissipate. ulla
